“We are registered with the National Department of Health to administrate eye specific human donor tissue. The main objective is to help to address corneal blindness in South Africa, and the shortage of available corneal donor tissue. Other eye specific donations we administrate include autologous serum and amniotic membrane. Autologous serum is used in patients with specific ocular surface diseases. When indicated, amnion is used as a surface lining during certain ophthalmological surgical procedures.”
WHAT
WE
DO
The cornea is the clear part of the eye that allows light to focus within the eye. Many blinding conditions can be cured by a cornea transplant. When the cornea has an opacity, it cannot transmit light. When the cornea is misshapen, it cannot focus light. In these scenarios eye doctors sometimes need to do a transplant.
Our custom-built, first of its kind in South Africa platform is designed to connect donors to patients, as well as provide customers with the ability to quickly and easily schedule their next Autologous Serum appointment
